Act One — the opening line

Over twenty years ago, I made a plan to save the world.

I know. I know.

But here is the thing about people who make plans to save the world: we are insufferable at dinner parties and right about everything eventually. So I kept building.

In the wings

Before I was a founder, I was a performer.

I performed in musicals from the age of 14. I mimed drama in the townships of South Africa to highlight Domestic Violence and Disease. I was in a band. I gave back through melodrama. And I spent my formative years absolutely certain of one thing: the stage was where the truth lived. Not the polished, presentable truth. The real kind. The kind that makes an audience go quiet in the middle of a scene and understand something they didn’t know they were waiting to understand.

My original pension plan — and I want you to know I had given this serious thought — was to own a theatre. I would wear gold lamé. I would have enormous hair. I would create a space where women gathered, stories were told, and the world was changed by the act of witnessing them.

Twenty years later, I am wearing Sacred Gold. The hair is negotiable. And the theatre — the real one, the one that was always the point — is being built.

It is called CentreStage.

Everything I have built has been working toward that stage.

The scene that changed the programme

I was at Guy’s Hospital in London. My son had just started to walk. I was sitting in a ward when they told me I had a massive tumour in my head and they were operating the next morning.

That night, I sat on the windowsill and looked up at the stars. And I made a promise — to God, to the universe, to myself, to anyone who would listen — that if I got through it, I would do everything in my power to make the world a better place.

The tumour was benign. The operation was not the end of it — removing it took ten years. I was left with chronic bone infection. I lost most of my forehead. I lost my voice, my appearance, the ability to move without immense pain, the version of myself I had been up until that moment.

I lived in a horrible two-bedroom flat infested with mice, with my toddler son, three stabbings on the street in the short time I was there, and a great deal of time to think.

I used the time well.

In 2011, I wrote the first outline of Piotopia — a plan for responsible community at global scale. A world where the gaps in society are filled not by governments or corporations but by people working together with clarity and intention. A world, specifically, that women would build.

The name comes from Pioneer and the Greek word “Eutopia” — meaning a good place. Not perfect. A plan.

The return — or, what happens when the understudy becomes the lead

When I finally came through the other side, I went to a business advisor with my plan to save the world.

She told me it was brilliant. She also told me nobody knew who I was, the world wasn’t ready for it and I needed to be visible. I had just spent a decade becoming the most invisible I had ever been. The irony was not lost on me.

So I spent the next year and a half packaging everything I have learned. I started sharing what I had built, daily, in a Facebook group called A Woman On Purpose. The poems started there — one a day, for a decade. Eventually: 578 poems.

The book came in 2014. The courses followed. The community grew to over 70,000 women.

Then the world shifted politically in ways I had been predicting for years and which nobody wanted to hear about. I stepped back — not to hide, but to care. My father’s Alzheimer’s, my mother’s second bout of breast cancer, a life running between London and Javea.

But the world is in need of a solution. And, as far as I can see, nobody else has come up with a plan to save the world. So rather than waiting, I have decided there is no time to waste.

I am back now. Forged rather than broken. Twenty years of framework, tested in the furnace of an actual life.

The stage is finally ready.

Piotopia — the pension plan that became a civilisational project

The gold lamé theatre of my original retirement vision has evolved.

Piotopia is the plan for a world built on responsible community — not a utopia to dream about but a civilisation to construct. One that women, specifically, will build. Because women who have healed themselves into leadership, who have turned their stories into businesses, who are using their income and influence with integrity — those women are the most dangerous possible force for good that the world has ever seen.

I conceived it in 2011. I have been building the infrastructure for it — the courses, the framework, the community, the publishing house, the path that takes a woman from her wound to her wisdom and from her wisdom to her work in the world — ever since.

We may never get to feel the shade of the tree we are planting. That is fine. We are planting it anyway.

The Changemakers, the Trailblazers, and the Visionaries who come through this work are the tree.

CentreStage — the original pension plan, finally delivered

In my original vision, there was a theatre. Stone and candlelight. Women gathered around a fire. Stories told. Worlds changed.

CentreStage is that theatre.

It is the flagship programme — eight weeks, twelve women, application only — for the Visionary woman who is ready to step fully into her platform, own her intellectual property, and lead at the level her life has equipped her for.

It is where a woman’s story becomes her stage.

It has been a long time in the making. The gold lamé is symbolic now. The big hair was always optional. But the stage? The stage was always going to happen.

It begins here.
